Winnie, Owned by Alex Eaton
| Winnie was a wonderful mare to work with. She is a Dutch Warmblood mare, sired by Idocus. She was backed and started here as at three year old, and we prepared and showed her in the Governor General Cup at the 2006 Royal Winter Fair. As a 4 year old, Claire started Winnie over fences, as well as her owner decided to breed her to Capone I. She delivered a stunning filly in 2008, which we presented, and was granted Silver Premium at the KWPN inspection. Winnie is back in work and will very likely be out on the show circuit in 2009. Have a wonderful year Alex and Winnie! |

VDL Zorland
What a remarkable one this was...
Zorland arrived to our farm not so much as even halter broke. He is a 3 year old gelding, sired by Corland. His new owners wished for him to learn his manners, basic ground work, and to be lightly started under saddle.
Within 2 1/2 months of hard work and time, Zorland was leading, cross tying, having his feet trimmed which hadn't been done since he was a weanling, long lining, and was working quietly and happily under saddle. A true fascinating horse to work with.
Thank you to Lorraine Denhoed and John Banbury for the opportunity to start this young gelding for them!

Charlie - Owned by Janet Wells
Charlie is a gentle giant if we ever saw one. He was one of the first horses here at our farm. We rescued Charlie off a PMU truck as a 6 month old weanling. Charlie developed into a handsome, enormous gelding within no time at all.
Claire started him under saddle, and sold him as a two year old to Janet Wells of Erin Ontario. Janet has brought Charlie back to Braecrest every spring to further his training under saddle, learn his over fences work, and gain experience on the hunt field.

6 months later, the filly was still with us, qualified for the Cup Class at the RAWF, and became the top placing Thoroughbred in the Lieutenant Governor General Cup, with trainer, Claire Hunter.
What a remarkable young horse, and a fantastic experience for the owners. Their very own home bred baby made it to the Royal. It was the Sutherland's dream to see her down there, and placing 10th out of many many spectacular three year old, mostly warmbloods, was just exceptional.
Congratulations to Claire and Kevin, and thank you so much for the opportunity to prepare this young horse for you, and to take her to the 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair!
Tess - Owned by Carmen Cotter
Tess came to our facility for some retraining in the spring of 2007.
She was purchased over a year ago by her very dedicated and loving owners. They had unfortunately experienced some mis-communications between themselves, and came to us for help with Tess, and to help them build a better respect and riding relationship together.
During her stay, Claire worked with Tess one on one, and then with the owners as well. She came along really well, and by the end of her stay, was quietly jumping around a course, doing her changes, and no longer causing her owners and troubles.
We took her to a hunter pace, as well as field hunting, with great success. She has been eventing this summer, and really turning heads. A realy fancy young mare certainly going to be a very reliable mount for eventing or field hunting.
Murphy, Owned by Janet McCracken

We achieved these goals during their stay, and I wish Janet and Murph all the best together this season!
