Sailor's Spirit is a promising young RPSI and CWHBA breeding approved stallion that started right here at Braecrest.
Sailor was a fantastic youngster to work with. Claire found him absolutely fascinating. He was so intelligent and focused as an early three year old, it was unbelieveable. Much time was spent on his foundation training. Developing a complete respect and trust in a trainer/handler is of extreme importance for a young stallion.
Sailor's Spirit spent the early part of 2005 at our facility learning to be a kind, responsive, very rideable youngster. In the spring, he was moved to DeerPath Breeding and Development Farm to learn his manners as a breeding stud. He was succesful in learning to be collected, and his first crop of test foals were on their way for 2006. He came back to Braecrest in the summer to be started under saddle again. Claire and Sailor competed at the Orangeville fall fair as his very first show under saddle. This fantastic youngster came home winning the show hack, and placing high in the other hack classes. This was against a field of 18 seasoned hackers. What a great start.
With a solid start under his belt, Sailor's reins were passed to Mr. Robert Sharpe. In the fall, Sailor was moved to Sharpe's barn to prepare for the GG Cup and the LG Cup classes at the RAWF. This stunning youngster came home with very impressive placings. 2nd place in the GG Cup, and a 2nd place in the LG Cup. Well done Sailor! Sailor's Spirit now has several babies on the ground, and is proving himself to be a producer of very fine sport horses. Our very own mare 'Rhapsodize' (Romantic Pursuit's dam) is in foal to him for a 2007 foal. He spent the winter of 2005/6 in Florida starting his over fences work, and is now working towards showing in the baby greens on the A circuit.
