Preparation for the event began in February for the horses. Being confident, comfortable, and careful in a jumping chute is extremely important for the overall success and safety of a competition like this. We generally school once a week in a jumping chute, 6-8 weeks prior to competition. Every horse is different of course, and some require more preparation and confidence building, and others don't need as much. Ground manners are also extremely important, for the safety of handlers, spectators, and most certainly makes a good impression for everyone. The horses are respectful and calm, and look to their handler for guidance and confidence.

Eddie (Athos II) and Bella (Bella Dona) both had some experience through a chute with an audience, as they were both showcased in our Jumping in January event, and in-house showcase of all of our young horses available.

The day was a great success for both horses. They were in excellent condition, and had a great experience, right from having their legs and ears clipped, to stepping on the trailer, to jumping 4'3 fences in a strange arena. Both youngsters have never been to a show before, so we were very impressed with their temperments towards the whole idea. Bella Dona finished in third position, and Athos II placed 4th, in exceptional company.Well done!

I would like to thank Brookelyn Cumberland and Angie Wrenn for their assistance today, you guys were a fantastic help, and always great company! Thank you to the owners of these two spectactular horses, Melissa Brown and Melissa Byrne for the opportunity to break, train, handle, and show these horses for you. - Claire
