'Two Braecrest Horses make Top 10 in Lieutenant Governor's Cup at the 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair'
The 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
Braecrest Stables had several entries in the 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. We brought the entry of Claire and Kevin Sutherland, Sinful Intentions to compete in the Lieutenant Governor's Cup and the Thoroughbred Line class. Our own Romantic Pursuit was entered in the 2 year old Canadian Sport Horse Filly Class. Claire prepared and handled Springtime Figurine, owned by Sandra and Clive Brown in the American Sport Pony Class on the final Sunday of the Fair.
Sinful Intentions, better known as Kierra, was bred and owned by Claire and Kevin Sutherland of Holstein, Ontario. This was their first breeding project, and it was their dream to see the filly compete at the Royal Winter Fair. Not only did this filly compete, but she placed 10th in the prestigious Lieutenant Governor's Cup with Claire piloting the flawless round.
With a successful season of attending shows with Braecrest Stables, this mare was very well prepared. She was started in the late spring of 2007 by Claire, and had a great summer of light schooling under saddle, enjoyed hacking, and attended several shows in hand and under saddle. Valerie Smith Bracken was kind enough to catch ride the filly for Braecrest, and successfully qualified her to show at the Royal Winter Fair. Kierra also placed very well in the Three Year old Thoroughbred Class, taking home the third place ribbon, in a very competitive class.
We would like to include an honorary mention of Bravado FF. This exceptional three year old gelding, owned by Anita Lancaster, competed in both the Governor General's and Lieutenant Governor's Cup Classes. Claire backed and started this brilliant young athlete early in his three year old year here at Braecrest Stables. This wonderful gentle giant came home with the First Place Award for the Lieutenant Governor's Cup Class, with rider, Robert Sharpe.
Romantic Pursuit had a fantastic experience at the 2007 Royal Winter Fair as well. Claire handled her in the 2 year old Canadian Sport Horse filly class, and she placed a very impressive second against a large, competitive field. A wonderful way to finish up a very successful season of showing on the line.
The entry of Sandra and Clive Brown, Springtime Figurine, had nothing but exceptional results in her class...she came home with the first place ribbon in a large class with many very competitive entries. Claire prepared and handled this filly in the American Sport Pony Open division, and the win was a wonderful close to several long days of preparation, sleepless nights, and excitement at the 2007 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
